Fratina is a side and armchair designed by Emilio Nanni for Billiani. Released in 2015, this piece won the 2016 Red Dot Design Award, a widely recognized and important distinction for high design quality. The solid ashwood frame is distinguished by sleek lines, and an arched wooden backrest – its structure inspired by a play on two geometric shapes: the soft curve or a circle, and the definite lines of a square. Minimalistic and modern, Fratina offers a choice of seats either in upholstered, with rope weave, leather, or straps, and its frames finished in stained or lacquered. Fratina’s design re-imagines the traditional chair, giving it a contemporary and simplistic mood.
